extended question:To what extent was brazil involved in world war 2?
WAS BRAZIL INVOLVED?
Whether to participate or not in World War I was one of the toughest decisions Brazil had to make in order to support it´s allies. They had fought in World War I as an ally of the United States, Great Britain, and France and after that, Brazil saw that it was essential to establish a good Army to protect the country. Some state police forces, such as São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, and Minas Gerais, had the best troops in Brazil, so they agreed with France in 1919 to establish a French Commission in Brazil also known as the French Military Mission. It´s objective was to help the Army make it get to the same level as European armies. So finally, Brazil, just like all the other South American countries proclaimed they were neutral at the outbreak of World War II (September 1939).
