BRAZIL IN WW2
.
The MILITARY BASES
Like it was mentioned before, along with Brazil, the United States in September 1939 were neutral on the outbreak World War 2. However, the United States was a little bit worried about a potential German attack on the Western Hemisphere and the most likely route for this to happen was through northeastern Brazil. That was why Brazil agreed on constructing and enlarging American air bases in northern and northeastern Brazil in the year of 1941. 1941 was also the year that the United States first entered the war and Brazil allowed the U.S. Navy to use Brazilian ports in its anti-submarine campaign. Lastly, a very important part of the air transport system (a stop for planes going to Africa and the Mediterranean)were the air bases.
