BRAZIL IN WW2
.
WAR DECLARATION AND MATERIALS
Brazil was a supplier of bauxite, iron ore, manganese, tungsten, industrial diamonds and most importantly rubber during World War II to the United States. Also, the Japanese occupied Southeast Asia, where 90 percent of the world rubber supplies were brought to. Brazil received $100 million in military equipment and arms under a program named Lend-Lease Program, in which the United States supplied its allies. Brazil’s cooperation attracted attacks by many other submarines from non-allies. For example; Italian and German submarines sank 36 Brazilian merchant ships by August 1942 when Brazil declared war with the non-allies.
